GET YOUR HEAD AROUND THE DETAILS.

Before you contact us for further information, we highly recommend casting an eye over the below specifications to learn more about our Defender 110 roof conversion.

  • Unparalleled Height and Weight: Our roof conversions add a mere 140mm of height and only 95kg of weight to the vehicle. “There is no other roof conversion on the market as lightweight and slimline as a Headspace Camper.” Founding Engineer, Oliver Smith.

Exceptional Headspace: The roof lifts to 42º and has over 1850mm of headspace just inside the tent! You’ll no longer hit your head when sitting up in bed, and you can change your clothes upstairs without needing to push the bed up to change downstairs. If your vehicle isn’t level, sleep at the other end. “You can’t buy any other roof conversion with this amount of headspace. Trust me, I’ve tried!” Founding Engineer, Oliver Smith.

Canvas: Unzip and roll down the entire tent for the ultimate safari experience. Pop up your awning effortlessly thanks to our easy access, one zip windows. We’ve designed the largest windows on the market to maximise airflow and open the tent, so you can feel at one with nature and get the headspace you deserve.

Vehicle Integrity: Our roof conversions are engineered and ADR compliant. We also follow the National Code of Practice for Light Vehicle Construction and Modification, which allows our customers to drive on all roads in Australia without needing to obtain further vehicle compliance.

Charging and Stowage: Each roof conversion comes with a colour-matched overhead organiser and lithium charging pack. All organisers are capable of stowing books, bottles, hats, phones, wallets and even a tablet or laptop for those wet and windy Netflix nights.

Ultimate Weather Protection: The main wrap-around awning supplied as standard can be zipped on and off in seconds. To further shelter the sides of the tent from blowing rain and harsh sunlight, we have designed zip-on/zip-off side awnings that attach to the main awning and tent.

Customisable Colours: Choose your colour preferences for your tent and mattress cover. You have the choice between a sand coloured tent with a sand wrap-around awning, sand organiser and brown trimmings, or a grey coloured tent with a grey wrap-around awning, grey organiser and black trimmings. You also have the choice between sand, light grey and charcoal for your mattress cover.

  • Tent: 380GSM poly/cotton 90% light-blockout ripstop canvas. Designed and engineered in Australia and proven to withstand the country’s harshest conditions. It is mould, rain and UV resistant. The tent contains anti-tear midge mesh in the windows, double reinforced seams, marine grade stainless eyelets and oversized zips for longer lasting wear.

Frame: Durable powder coated folded aluminium frame reduces the overall weight while also maintaining adequate strength to minimise vehicle body roll. Use of an industrial grade double point rubber seal ensures adequate ingress protection from the elements, including the infamous outback bulldust. Colour coding on exterior faces to blend in with the vehicle is an optional add-on.

Bed Frame: Carpet-lined, lightweight, resin-infused composite bed frame that reduces the overall roof conversion weight by 25%.

Roof Lifting Struts: 28mm heavy duty roof lifting struts pressurised to your constant roof load. Optional secondary struts for lifting the roof when carrying excess weight on long overhaul trips. Together with the primary struts, the roof can be tailored to lift up to 250kg (not that we recommend carrying this much weight).

Mattress: 50-100mm mattress thickness with an optional anti-condensation base layer to prevent moisture build-up. Handmade machine washable water and UV resistant mattress cover.

Access Doors: Dual internal access doors that can remain open while sleeping and can also function as tables when the bed frame is pushed up towards the ceiling.

Bed: Accessible from inside the vehicle to provide protection from the elements. An exterior ladder can be arranged if external accessibility is required. Bed can be pushed up towards the ceiling to provide a larger living area downstairs.

Downstairs Interior Lighting: Retain front seat OEM interior light hardwired to the vehicle (on/off/door). Additional LEDs hardwired to the vehicle (on/off/door) to service the middle row seats and rear cargo area.

Upstairs Interior Lighting: Retain rear cargo OEM interior light built into OEM headlining and hardwired to the vehicle (on/off).

Hinges and Latches: Marine grade stainless steel exterior hinges and latches to prevent corrosion.

Mounting Brackets: Optional lower frame mounting brackets for typical roof rack side-mounted equipment, including a 270° stand-alone awning.

  • Closed Capacity: Plenty of space for bed linen, blankets, pillows and throws.

Open Capacity: Designed to comfortably fit 2 adults and 1 or 2 little ones.

    Closed Sizing: 1430 W x 140 H x 2815 L (mm).

    Open Sizing: 1430 W x 2150 H x 2815 L (mm).

    Access Door Sizing: 610 W x 500 L (mm).

    Mattress Sizing: 1250 W x 50/75/100 H x 2030 L (mm).

    Added Height: 140mm.

    Added Weight: 95kg.

  • Manufacturer and ADR Compliance: The design of our roof conversion is engineered and complies with the Australian Design Rules (ADRs). Headspace Campers also adheres to the National Code of Practice for Light Vehicle Construction and Modification. As such, your vehicle will be certified to travel in all states and territories within Australia. Please contact us to discuss engineering and compliance requirements in other countries.

Roof Rack Requirements: A Headspace Camper does not impact the structural integrity of your vehicle. This means you can re-fit your existing roof rack to your roof without any modifications. Although our roof conversions are engineered to carry and lift up to 250kg, customers must adhere to vehicle manufacturer guidelines for static and dynamic roof loading requirements when loading their roof.

Fun Fact: Following rigorous testing and evaluation, our third party engineers found that the roof conversion increased the impact resistance of the upper A, B and C pillars of the vehicle by over 400%. You’re quite literally safer with a Headspace Camper on your vehicle than without it!
